End User Licence Agreement
End User Licence Agreement
Last updated 29 May 2026
This is the licence under which you install and use Lab on your computer. It is short and in plain English. Use Lab for your own development work, accept that it is provided without warranty, and remember that the agents it runs act on your machine and in your repositories under your direction and your responsibility.
1. Parties and acceptance
This End User Licence Agreement (the "Licence") is between you (the "User") and the individual developer publishing the Lab software under the itsloopyo handle (the "Licensor"). By installing, copying, or using the Lab desktop application (the "Software"), you accept this Licence. If you do not accept it, do not install or use the Software.
2. Licence grant
While you are an active supporter on Patreon, the Licensor grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to install and use the Software on computers you own or control, for your own software development work, whether personal or commercial. Builds you have already installed remain usable under this Licence if your supporter status later lapses; continued access to new builds and updates requires an active pledge.
3. What you may not do
You may not:
- Sell, sublicense, rent, lease, redistribute, or otherwise make the Software available to third parties.
- Remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices in the Software.
- Use the Software to harass, defraud, or harm others, or to break any law.
- Distribute the Software in modified form or as part of any other product without prior written consent from the Licensor.
- Circumvent, or attempt to circumvent, the supporter-eligibility or update-signing mechanisms.
4. Reverse engineering
You may not decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer the Software, except to the extent that such activity is expressly permitted by applicable law notwithstanding this restriction (for example, the limited rights to decompile for interoperability granted to lawful users by section 50B of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988). Where you rely on a statutory right, you must first request the information you need from the Licensor; reverse engineering is permitted only if that request is refused or not answered within a reasonable time.
5. Your machine, your repositories, your agents
The Software orchestrates AI coding agents and developer tools that you install and configure. Those agents can read and write files, execute shell commands, create commits, and push to remote repositories on your machine, under your direction. You are solely responsible for reviewing their output and for any code, command, commit, deployment, or configuration that results from your use of the Software. You represent that you have the right to modify the repositories you point the Software at and to run the commands you direct it to run.
You are responsible for all credentials, tokens, and API access you provide, and for any fees charged by the third-party AI providers or services you use through the Software.
6. Third-party tools and providers
The agents and tools the Software can drive (including command-line agents such as Claude Code and Codex and the model providers behind them) are published by their own vendors under their own licences and terms. Your use of them is governed by those terms. The Licensor makes no warranty regarding any specific agent, model, version, or its output, and is not responsible for data you send to, or costs you incur with, those providers.
7. Supporter features and access
Access to the Software, and to its automatic updates, is provided to active supporters of the project on Patreon. By linking a Patreon account you authorise the Software to query Patreon's API for your supporter status and tier only. Supporter scope, included features, and tiers may change at any time without notice. Supporter status is backing for the project; pledges are handled and refunded by Patreon, not the Licensor, and your relationship with Patreon is governed by Patreon's own terms.
8. Updates
The Software may check for and install its own updates, including security fixes, bug fixes, and new features. Updates are cryptographically signed and verified before installation. You can disable update checks in the Software's settings. This Licence applies to all updated versions you choose to install.
9. Privacy
The Software runs locally on your machine and does not send telemetry, analytics, or any other data about you to the Licensor. The full Privacy Policy is at lab.decoupled.cam/privacy.
10. Intellectual property
The Software, including its source code, compiled binaries, name, logo, and visual identity, is the property of the Licensor and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Except for the limited rights granted in section 2, this Licence does not transfer to you any ownership of or rights in the Software. Code that the agents generate from your direction is yours, subject to the terms of the AI providers you used.
11. No warranty
The Software is provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation the implied warranties of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The Licensor does not warrant that the Software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with any particular agent, model, operating system, or repository.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Licensor is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages, including loss of or damage to code or data, unwanted commits, pushes, or deployments, leaked secrets, third-party service costs, or downtime, arising from your use of the Software or the actions of any agent you run through it.
The Licensor's total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of this Licence or your use of the Software will not exceed £50.
Nothing in this Licence excludes or limits the Licensor's liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or (c) any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
13. Your statutory rights as a consumer
If you are a consumer under the laws of Scotland, nothing in this Licence affects your statutory rights, including any rights you may have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
14. Termination
This Licence is effective until terminated. You may terminate it at any time by uninstalling the Software. The Licence will terminate automatically without notice if you breach any of its terms. On termination, you must stop using the Software and remove all copies of it from your computers. Sections 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, and 13 survive termination.
15. Changes
The Licensor may publish revised versions of this Licence from time to time. Changes apply to versions of the Software released after the change. The "last updated" date above will move when a material change is made.
16. Governing law and jurisdiction
This Licence is governed by the laws of Scotland. The Scottish courts have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute arising out of or in connection with this Licence, except that, if you are a consumer resident in another part of the United Kingdom, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom in which you reside.
